Hi there!

My name is Maki. I’m a born and raised Venezuelan living in sunny South Florida.

For the past 8 years I’ve been working innovation in design within artisan techniques with indigenous communities in South America. Promoting cultural heritage under fair-trade standards. Helping communities to be sustainable thanks to their ancestral art.

In 2009 we became the first Venezuelan brand to become a member of the prestigious Ethical Fashion Forum in London, and on 2011 we were honored to be a part of the “Ethical Fashion Show” that took place at the Louvre Museum in Paris.

2013 my husband, 2 small kids, and myself decided to leave Venezuela looking for freedom, security, and a future. I was emotionally, and physically drained do to the circumstances we were going through. It’s then that I attended a Yoga class that rocked my world.

Yoga is really the art of waking up, of getting back to your true self. It offers us a way to see a world that is working for us, instead of against us. It reminds us that everything is connected so we must live, act, eat, and, breathe with awareness, respect and understanding.

After a year of daily practice, I found a quote that read: “If you want to learn something, read it. If you want to master it, teach it.” So, I found myself a perfect traditional hatha yoga teacher training, and 6 months later, with a lot of hard work, I became a yoga teacher (RYT)

From then on, I’ve kept exploring and learning, attending every workshop available to me, and becoming a certified Budokon Yoga™ teacher, a certified outreach, for youth in distress, with Connection Coalition (former Yoga Gangster), and Yin Yoga teacher.

Now a days I’m still working on Ethical Design, promoting positive initiatives, and teaching / learning as much as I can.

My commitment as a Social Entrepreneur, as well as a Yoga Teacher is to empower others achieve their true and full potential, with courage and sensibility.

Massive Love

Budokon Yoga Class.
The practice offers an intense, full-body workout, as it combines the integrity of martial arts movement with the strength of calisthenics, the playfulness of animal movement, and the fluidity of yoga.
